| Senior Member | Pricing this WP Colt Ok so trying to price this colt right...too low and no one will be interested cause they will think he's not 'quality', too high and ppl will think im off my rocker. he's got great breeding... Own son of Ladys Hotrodder (World top 10, Performance ROM and halter point earner.) his Dam is by Pass to the Stars (he has a show record but I forget) by Barpasser himself. He's about 14.1 hands at 1 year and as long as he keeps growing fast he will make a great HUS prospect as well as a WP colt. he has a great mind and we will prolly enter him in longeline futurities in the fall. he is incentive fund too! he is hip high and this was tjhe DAY we brought him home. he needs his angles on his feet done otherwise he is as he is. Pics: these colts dont get wider till they hit 4 so he's prolly gonna be lean till then. his half brother who my friend owns is a good boy and has a natural 'lift' to him as does this colt. but was unshown due to a farrier messing his legs up which left him lame for a year and still has his 'days'. also do you think it would be reccomendable he be kept a stud (saying he's got the movement and what it takes to be a decent show horse) Im not keeping him but I'm just curious. BLUWIND

| Senior Member+ | I would say that you would have a much better chance of selling him as a gelding. |

| Senior Member+ | He's cute, love his trot...but unless he's 100% sound it's hard to put a price on him... Cathy

| Senior Member | Ok his half brother had an issue not him... he is 100 percent sound and sane. Yes you are correct. about the gelding...but my partner in this endevor wishes to keep him a stud because she is thinking of buying me out and replacing his half brother with this colt cause first of all he is going to be alot bigger than him. so at this point its as is... thanks BLUWIND PS: I have to say he's a huge improvement from the other colt I bought lol.

| Senior Member+ | I am curious for those who voted if they would price the colt the same if it was their own personal dollars that were paying for it? To me saying what someone should price a colt at vs what the market will bear are often two very different things. Realistically in todays market I think that many who voted value would not pay that for this colt given the chance. I am not saying that to be rude... I just know that very few horses are being sold. There are lots and lots and lots of horses for sale right now... BTW I voted based on what I felt the colt would bring at a sale or I would be willing to pay. |

| Senior Member+ | I said 2100-3000. I think you could price him at about 2500 and take 2000. That's if he's actually a good mover. If he's not a good mover then $1500 for a possible good minded pattern horse. If you posting him on equine or something (and he's a good mover) you might be able to price him at $3000 and still get interest. But in all honesty his pedigree isn't really impressive at all. He has okay breeding, but in the QH world people like the sires to be well known. And honestly I've never really heard of that stud. The good studs are further back in his pedigree. Right now I'd market him at a primarily english horse if you think he will be better at that, but also an all around horse. I'm guessing he'll finish 15/3-16hh. But you never know how they grow really (when I got my old yearling in august he was 14.1 or .2hh I think and now as a 2yr old he's like 15.3hh in the hip already. But who knows if he will keep growing after his whithers catch up aha.)
