Actually, I'm not sure... I haven't messed with her that much recently... but according to my uncle, she's actually gotten a little tamer. Tame enough to not actually run away... just kinda walk off and then stop. According to him, she'll let him catch her after a few minutes of walking after her. (The cows she's pastured with are tamer too, they'll all come up to my uncle now, so that may be why). Once he catches her, she's pretty good... a little pushy, but overall, pretty good.

She may have aborted the foal... I'm not sure.

I'd almost guarentee she did.

If she was that wormy to be that bloated, she'd likely be dead by now.

Oh... well... I guess that it was probably better that she did abort the foal. (I don't know if abortion in mares is a very bad thing... I don't know much about it at all... so I'm just guessing).

I do know that she was very wormy, though...

After reading this whole thread I am left feeling very sad for this horse. A semi-tame horse claimed by a 6 year old - how smart is that?

A foal that could/maybe/should've been aborted but you don't know? It is obvious this mare is not getting what she needs in terms of companionship.

All this talk of forage material but no discussion of pellets or ration balancers or anything to get this horse in a decent shape.

If she did abort, she needs to be vet checked, did anyone do that? Further more in the one of the pics she is tied up (looks like to a tree no less, shame on you) so someone must have gotten their hands on her at one time? She is also very close the shack in the background and not a cow in sight.....

If she is turned out to pature for all this time and not catchable, who is doing her feet?

I am sorry for being harsh, but your uncle has no business having this horse at all! His attempts at rescue are not good enough, period. She needs to be "rescued" again and sent to someone that knows/practices proper horse management and rescue recovery techniques.
