| Senior Member+ | Post your Daily Grooming Regiment!!! (w/ pics) Ok So I just want everyone to post their daily grooming regiments and any extra things they do (condition tail after baths or whatever) then maybe add a pic of their horse at there best (clean and groomed) Um, so mine is Curry with a rubber curry in circular motion over her entire body (not the legs of course) Followed by a stiff harder brush in flicking motions over the entire body and legs. Then I brush the mane and forelock and sometimes tail with those brushes with the soft bristles on one side and the hard pins on the other. I use the hard pin side. I then take the hard pin side and go over Her forehead and cheeks (she like it too) Then I take a soft body brush and go over her face and body and legs. Then I hoof pick out her feet. When I feel like it I will clip her whiskers, ears, and bridal path, and sometimes her lower legs. She gets bathed with a mixture of EQuss shampoo and a whitener shampoo. When shows are a couple months away I Never shampoo the mane till after the show season (she can get pretty slippery mane) I also at this time will never use any conditioning or shining product in the mane. I will spray her with a conditioning spray (generally not show sheen, that isn't a conditioner it actually dries out the hair) I will use show sheen in her tail to detangle it. At shows sometimes I will use a small amount of baby oil on her face (nothing like arabians get done, just a small glistening amount, i have nothing against arab people) Umm I can't think of anything else at this moment so here is a pic. ![]()

| Senior Member+ | Well... at the risk of admitting to my neglectfulness, grooming wise... I don't groom Rocco often unless it's for a ride, then I just get the major mud off, pick out his feet and brush saddle and bridle area. If there's a competition coming up I use my rubber curry lots too, but it's too harsh for him with his summer coat, so I use these grooming gloves (I think they're for cats/dogs) and give him a massage at the same time. Then brush over with a body brush. Mane and tail - I just shampoo the mane. Since I never brush out his tail (he lives out and it's waaaaay to thick and therefore pointless to do it for no reason!), I spend ages carefully picking it apart and then shampoo it, then condition and leave the conditioner in for ages. He goes nice and shiny anyway - this pic was taken after he was pulled out of the paddock and given a once over! |

| Senior Member+ | I'm a halfhearted groomer, I'm afraid. I usually just use a stiff brush on him or a curry then stiff brush if he's muddy. It's hard to brush anything off/out of a coat as curly as his so I don't really try. I am going to try putting in a tail bag for the first time tomorrow!

| Senior Member+ | Bathing - rarely, and only before shows feet - I look at them daily, but they rarely need anything picked out as they are pretty self-cleaning mane/forelock/tail - comb, and will also comb the top of the tail, but I only comb the whole tail after it's been washed and had something like Cowboy Magic put in, otherwise I just pick out burrs/stick/vines/leavers grooma groomer - often when I'm getting ready to ride as that can help find any sore spots that might be present long-bristled brush for summer, shorter, coarser brush for winter to get the dust/dirt raised by the curry. I rely on nutrition and natural living to get the gleaming coat. This is what Rio looked like this morning with only a mane comb and a light brushing off

| Full Member | I pamper/spoil my horse! He seems to like his 30-45 min baths before shows! Daily: 1) rubber curry/massager to loosen dirt 2) hard flicker brush over head, legs everywhere 3) Repeat 1 and 2 if necessary 4) Clean hooves and put hoof dressing on them 5) brush mane 6) brush tail once a week 7) fly spray in summer Baths(before shows): 1) shampoo with his new green apple smelling stuff! 2) scrub shampoo with rubber curry/massager 3) shampoo mane and tail 4) rinse and put conditioner in tail and mane 5) put anti-fungal shampoo on legs (do this every time he gets sprayed down) 5) sponge face 6) rinse out conditioner in mane and tail 7) Dry off a little, then put Vetrolin Shine everywhere but saddle area 8) put Herbal Essences leave-in conditioner in mane and tail 9) hoof polish and clip off bridle path, whiskers, ears, eyes, etc Ta-dah! It takes forever getting ready for a show...but everyday grooming doesn't take more than 10 minutes. |
