Possible SCAM alert

I put an ad up for my old gelding a looooonnnngggg time ago and i got this today. "We are the Free Spirit Arabian Horse Sanctuary serving the Arabian Horse community, your gelding is welcome in the event you cant keep or need to find his forever home. We utilize and retrain all the horses for a Christian ministry program called Camp Have A Blast for widows and orphans and inner-city families and disabled children. He would live on our 40 acres in Nevada in a herd setting when not in the riding program. Think about us in your future and get back to us if you need to. Pat Montes" Then i said "We already sold him" and got this.................

LOL, It's got to be real, cause who would use a name like that if it wasn't, ROTFLOL!!!!!

If you want to know for sure, ask them for more information. Ask them for the church they're affiliated with and contact information for them. Ask for their "charitable foundation" papers. And then sit back and see what happens, LOL.

I googled it, no results for the widows. I did find a blank site for the rescue though. The only thing I found on it were the pics of 3 horses that look like show horses.

So is your gelding that is now a mare even an Arab? It states that they are an Arabian Horse Sanctuary serving the Arabian Horse community.

I would be in big Doubts about this. If I were an organization looking for horses to be donated,bought for whatever reason I would be looking at fairly recent ads not old ones.

I would probably trash the e-mail or report it to the horse ad site so they could decide if they want to do something about it.

I'm going with either a scam or some crazy church person who thinks she is doing the world a favor by taking these horses... (not that I think all people who attend church are crazy, because that would mean me)

and I agree, the pictures look like pretty nice show animals.

i just wanted to very politely ask that those of you who use this site be very careful of what you say about others before you have investigated the situation. i work for a rescue and the woman mentioned in this discussion called me with an emergency a week ago. i passed it along to my director who did a google search and came up with this message board. it made us all shy away from helping with her situation and when all was said and done, it was found that she was legitimate and that help was delayed because of a few careless words. it is not my intention to try and chastize anyone, i just wanted to ask that you be careful when making a claim about something as serious as a rescue program being a scam. i think that if you look at the situation and the fact that she could have sent out emails about more than one horse that day, you'll realize how easily the mistake of using "her" instead of "him" could have been made. thank you.
