popping front end up in the canter

Zoey currently 4 years old pops her front end up sometimes in the canter. Idk i will try to get a video on friday. What is it and why do they do it?

She is probably lacking balance & impulsion. Possibly she is on her forehand & needs that "hop" to help her make the transition into the canter.

Is she doing it while IN the canter, or in the trot-canter transition?

If the latter, it's what Gotta said - lack of impulsion and "sit" behind.

You really want to nip this in the bud asap - it's a bad habit that some horses have a hard time letting go of.

Video wil help - it may be that she just isn't forward enough, which is a rider error

My old man 'pops' into the canter, when asked from the halt or walk. He is old and has some arthritis. He was very well schooled and rides from back to front. He knows his job and when cued to canter, he goes RIGHT into the stride, but being older and out of shape, he can POP into it, and then gets into the groove of the canter strides ...

no its not when she is going into her canter. Its while she is cantering. not the whole time shes cantering. Idk its weird i will get a video.

its kinda like shes bringing herself up like horses in a canter piouette do but shes not moving around shes just going straight.
