Poop-n-go

I need some help from any of you that had to handle this problem too.

My mare absolutely refuses to walk n poop at the same time.
She IS green broke (only 4yrs old).

I've tried giving leg, slap with the reins, tapping of a crop, smacking with the crop.....and NOOOOOO WAY...that baby girl aint movin til she flushes!
Soft pressure all the way to hard pressure she will not budge til she's done.

The hard part is that I can only work on this problem when we ride and she has to go (once only during the whole ride!) so I need some serious help.
My trail buddies always have to wait for me and then of course their horses have to show off their poop n go skills....rubbin it in!
hahahahah

Help me out please!

Hehehe, this is an interesting training dilemma! ;-)

Do what you're doing- some horses don't like being nagged with the legs, so once you give her a chance with your legs, a firm thwack with the crop (BEHIND your leg) and another insistent kick if she refuses the whip should get her moving. MAKE her go, because she may not even realize she CAN do both at the same time! It may just be a case of 'SEE, you CAN do it!' and that's all it will take.

How long have you been riding her?

I'm afraid my mare has the same problem. And if she's acting lazy and stops now and then, it's only because she has to poop and refuses to! And when she finally does, she is SO relieved that she won't slow down after!

Tell your friends to CONTINUE to walk. This helps those who refuse to listen to nagging. They HATE to be left behind, so they'll either hurry up or take a step half way through. So continue to get after her and tell your friends to continue on a short distance to "encourage" her to want to walk on.

My Gelding does the SAME thing and I can't get him to move at all. It gets so bad that sometimes he will stop in the show ring and I CAN'T get him to move. I literally have to beat him to get him to move before the judge notices. I guess he just want to be left a lone and stand to do his business. I have NEVER seen him walk and go to the bathroom at the same time in all 7yrs that I have own him!

I really don't have a problem letting her stop and be dainty but when and if I decide to take her to small shows it won't be acceptable.
PLUS...this reminds me of a story:

My husband and I were out on a trail ride when we were in Germany.
He was in front of me and my horse was pretty darn close behind.
All of the sudden his horse stopped dead and started to "go"...tail up and that big ol butt taking up the whole trail.
My horse tried to go around on short notice whilst my leg was not going to make it around.
Duh me...I stuck my hand out to Push Off the poopie horses butt but..ummm....missed ....
ewwwwwwww

*grin*
True story

so, another reason to poop n go

I really just need her to know that she CAN walk n go at the same time and will do it if I need her to.

Glad to hear I am not the only one with this problem. I'll let ya know how it goes from here.
I will do the "off balance" trick and the "crop behind the leg" more or combine the two!

No sense in me having the others walk on as she could care less where they are anyway. She knows she can always catch up. hehehehe

Thanks all!
