Poisonous plants

Does anyone know if these plants are poisonous to horses? I have been identifying and researching these plants with no solid outcome. They are in a pasture we are "borrowing":
common stitchwort
henbit
mugwort (it is loaded with this)
Venus looking glass
vetch
white campion

Thanks.

I'm not familiar with a few of the names you've listed, but here is a good place to start checking:

I have had to study poisonus plants for horses for my training and i have to agree with Ryle i have never heard of these before yet i am a few thousand miles away!

I would look into more of a horticultural background of these plants and see if they are toxic in any way and see if this is know to effect horses at all.

Horses generally know what is good for them and what isn't. If there is plently of grass for them to eat then they will have no reason to eat these plants as they wont be hungry enough.

I would check them out just to be sure though!

Thanks. That's a great site!

It took us all day to identify these weeds (in the rain too!). We still couldn't identify 2 of them. This mugwort seems to be an herb, it's Artemisia vulgaris. But in large quantities (if they even eat it) might cause problems. I noticed the vetch is on there, but I don't think there is much. We may be able to get rid of it.

I think we will wait some more. This is a neighbors field who recently cut it for hay for his few animals. He has ruminants though (sheep and Llamas). He won't be cutting anymore and the animals won't be on it either so he offered it to us to use. There are a lot of weeds though. I think I will map it out so I can sit down and look at it.

Thanks again for the site.
