I really need some hope and prayers. i have been holding back tears all day. i went out last night to do one last check on the horses and shadow was down and he couldn't get up i took his temp while he was down it was fine. i got his halter and pulled him up and he almost went back down. he cant stand on his right leg. today he cant even walk. he's not eating prolly from pain. it took him from 8 sunday night untill 7 tonight to eat three flakes of hay. his pastren is sowllen and hot his hoof too. i called the vet and said i wanted a vet now but a new vet and the best they could do was tomorrow at 1:30 i told them to bring the x-ray machine. i dont thinks just an abcess anymore. im so scared his going to tell me something awful. if it keeps going like this i dont know what im going to do i owe my mom $1,446 for vet bills on his leg. im down to 300 in checking i really need a miracal right now. my worst fear is not being able not to give him what he needs. i have people lined up to buy him his a wonderful horse.but they prolly wont take him now. i wont put him down i refuse. i will kill my mother she loves him. and i just havent seen him give up yet so im not, i refuse. what should i do????i need a i dont really know what i need ive run out of ideas. well sorry for writting a book but i needed to vent.

I'm very sorry your horse is suffering like this. I know how helpless it feels to not be able to fix what needs fixing. Are you giving him something for the pain? Keep us updated on what the vet has to say.

yes he is getting bute for his pain and a topical pain reliever i just got in from checking on him he is up but not eating much.he is kinda just hanging in the back of his stall looking out the window.he jerked his leg away from me when i touched it lightly it was still hot. i told him the vet was coming tomorrow. he looks so depressed. i told him that you all are praying for him. he just closed his eyes for a minute. i think he is spending most his time sleeping instead of eating. he hasn't even drank a gallon of water scenc last night. i hope he doesn't colic b/c of this. thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry. I will be praying for him. I hope everything turns out ok for him.

Might it be an abcess?? My vet told me that when a horse abcesses sometimes they can make you think the broke their leg off. She said heat and swelling can be signs of abcesses too. I know when my little guy abcessed not long ago he had a lot of swelling and heat. He also would not put any weight on his leg nor would he even pick it up. He just drug it. It turned out to be an abcess though.

Some times it just takes a while for these things to work themselves out.
