Please Help with Trailer purchase..

Not sure if this belongs here but......

I am looking to buy a 2 horse trailer BP.. I am looking at a 1993 Sundowner straight load with ramp and tack area.
Very nice condition.. Can get it for 2500.00.
is that a good price?

Also it weighs 3420 lbs and I will be hauling two 1200lb horses. No long hauls just to vet or local areas.

I have a 2005 Trailblazer LT. towing limit 6100lbs. Would this trailer be too much for me to pull??

Anyone know if this seems like a good deal? or should I look for a lighter weight trailer? Any suggestions?

It looks to be in good condition. IMHO I would look for a trailer that is slightly lighter say a Brenderup or a stock type 2 horse trailer w/ divider.

It looks nice - I just got a 93 shoop for 1500. Looks like that has been re-painted - I would take care to look at the underside at the frame and under the mats.

Honestly, I wouldn't pull horses at all with a Trailblazer. IIRC, it is built on their small truck platform, and has a short wheel base. Because horses are live cargo, you should have a minimum of 1,000 lbs extra on your tow rating, vs. the actual weight of trailer + horses. Your Trailblazer is also probably not equipped with heavy enough brakes and so on to safely tow horses.

I have a 2-horse slant that weighs 3900#, and I will only tow it around town with one horse in it, with my F-150, which has a 7500# tow capacity. I feel that it is a marginal tow vehicle at best, and a 3/4 ton is really needed to do any major towing (highway, 50+ miles, more than one horse).

I agree, while the trailer looks nice (although I would def. look at the axles, tires, and underneath of the trailer, it is sitting really low in that picture), I wouldn't tow it with a trailblazer. It's just not safe, not with live cargo. You are at the limit of your tow capacity without even counting the people in the Trailblazer. You don't only have to worry about the capacity, but also the ability to stop and to start. You will tear up your transmission and your brakes pulling a trailer.
