I posted a thread on how to help my horse on some of his 'issues' and they replied that it might be how the saddle fits. Any one have any tips?

Your saddle should be off your horses wither. Probly the most common problem though is it not being wide enough. If you place the saddle on him and run a flat hand from under the pommel right down your horses side it shouldn't feel to tight, if your hand gets stuck then its pinching.

You can also ride with a white saddle cloth and study dirt and sweat patterns to check the saddle is putting even pressure over the area.

If your unsure the best thing is to have someone that knows about saddle fit look at it. You could also post some pictures of it here, some people on here know a lot about it and can diagnose problems just from pictures.

My husband just bought a new saddle and I tried both of these ideas and I was able to run my hand down freely and the towel was dirty all over. I was quite pleased with both results. I also heard you can get them all sweated up and look at the sweat spots on the horse and if there are any dry spots you know the saddle doesn't fit.
