Please critique my yearling and 2 year old!!!

Hi, I just bought these horses last week. Yesterday an individual who judges horses told me that she wouldn't have given a nickel for these horses. She said that the dark bay has an ugly head with small, close-set eyes that will make her nervous and hard to train. She said my other reddish bay is toed out and has a short neck that will affect her stride. What do you think?

Horses toe out natually to some degree. Lots of times the toeing out too much is poor farrier work. I personally wouldn't worry about it and let your farrier address it. Yes the neck is short looking to me. The heads aren't ugly. I don't think neither looks that bad. None of thoses pics are good for conformation except one and it's not enough to really tell. I wouldn't pay attention to half of what people say anyway.

Wow, some people are just plain rude! I personally would disregard what someone like that was saying. I agree w/BB, the one horse does seem to have a fairly short neck, and the toeing out can be fixed to some extent with good farrier work. They are both gorgeous, and if anyone tells, you otherwise, don't let it bother you, tell them that they are great horses and they don't know what they are talking about!

These are foundation bred quarter horses that I bought from my sister and brother-in-law. These are our first horses and we are so excited!

They didn't deserve those nasty comments!

I'm sorry, but I hate people who say stuff like close-set eyes show that she will be nervous........ It has nothing to do with that. That is like saying all blonds are stupid. Wich is NOT true. I think both horses look fine. A horse dosen't need perfect conformation. I think it's barly important, enless your breeding, or thinking of showing in HIGH levels... Some people just want to show that they know more than you, even if it's NOT true.
