Please critique my morgan:D #s 1, 7, 11

Ok, I got some new pictures of Tobey today at the barn and I would love to have some honest critiques from all of you
Name:Tobey

Age:10ish

Breed: Morgan X Quarter horse

Height: 15 hands

Disciplines: Western pleasure, western speed events, english pleasure, jumping, dressage, and trail.

We were having problems keeping him still if you couldn't tell

He's really not downhill, he just stand funny a lot lol. I'm uploading some shots of him trotting. Oh and I know that he is chubby, I've been doing a lot of trotting work to try to get him trimmer. He's really muscular and pretty fit he's just very stocky but he needs to lost weight.

Needs his hooves trimmed...

A little long, and steep hipped. Maybe camped out behind a bit, or just standing funny.

Course head, short necked with the desirable firm muzzle. His neck is set on nicely. He could have more definition of shoulder. Does not have a very prominent wither. Long backed with a steep croup. Desperately needs muscling esp in the hind end.

his rump looks kinds steepish too me maybe its just the combination of the qh with the morgan hmm.. short neck, not necisarilly a bad thing. Looks like the ultimate sport pony too me! He looks like he is in really good condition, that is what i like too see.

He is getting a trim soon and he does need muscling in his butt, that's why I'm doing so much trotting work with him. He doesn't have a long back though, he's got a very very short back, part of the morgan. Thanks for the critiques

His hindquarters look like typical morgan, to me. Though it is steeper than most Morgans. He could stand some more muscle, but Morgans tend to have very round hindquarters and not large ones like quarter horses.

He has nice thick Morgan-ish legs (I just love 'em! ) Oh, and I love the 7th picture. It's so-o-o-o Morgan!

I agree with skinfaxi, his hooves could stand a trim.

Thanks goonhorse He does need a trim, I realize this. He is getting trimmed very shortly. #7 is priceless isn't it lol Here are more trotting pics. The reason that he is tossing his head and not looking happy is because he was spooking at the donkey in the pen near him and when I asked him to trot he took off cantering so I was trying to slow him down.

Ok, I need some help with some of these terms lol

Also, I can see now what everyone means about the steep croup but what does that do? Is it a bad thing and if so how?

Thanks

I quite like this shot. You managed to get a pretty good confo shot here. I actually quite like the boy. Good length of neck (a little cresty but that's a Morgan trait). Kind expressive eye. Head size matches body. Good well sprung ribs and length of back. Croup is a bit steep though and he looks a bit camped out behind but that could be because of how he's standing. Pastern and shoulder angle matches too. His body matches his legs and if he were standing truly square he'd be close to fitting into this diagram.

T

1. Bottom of jaw to point of shoulder
2.Top of Wither to point of shoulder
3. Point of stifle
4. From middle of thigh to top of hock
5. Top of forearm to bottom of knee
6. Middle of hock to cornet band
7. Stifle to point of shoulder ( two heads)

Note #3 + #7 = 3 heads.

Edit:- I can see that his neck is longer than what is in this picture because of how he is turning his head.

Madvoice- thanks He is standing funny, he was getting excited by the donkey stallion and I guess forgeting that he was gelded so we were having trouble getting him to stand still.
