Yearlings are hard to judge. My yearling was a ugly duckling also.

He has since turned into this.

*sigh*, so she definitely got her sires big head and her dam's short neck

And so was so pretty as a baby:

And the other very important question that I meant to ask: do you think that these legs will come right?

Glad that you all think it is not too bad. Please keep the info coming. Loving all the advise

I suspect she will always be a bit toed out. But When she grows into her chest it will improve dramatically even to the point where you can only see it when she's standing square and by someone who knows what they're looking for. My arab filly was quite badly pidgeoned toed but as her chest filled out and she grew more bone it became less notisable and now you can't tell at all unless you're looking for it.

Is she clipped in the pictures? She almost looks like a buckskin... but that would be impossible because it looks like sire and dam are both bay.

I would let her grow into herself..... even out and fill out and I bet she will turn into a nice looking horse.

I think her sire is actually a buckskin. If you enlarge the picture you can see that he's wet which has darkened his coat but around his muzzle and where he's drive he's actually a golden colour.

The sire is a buckskin. The only time I saw him was in the rain. I suspect that in that particular picture he may have even had a nice roll in the dirt.

The foal is a buckskin (don't only buckskins have that white in their manes?)

Bumping this up

If anyone has more pictures of 10 month old foals, or comments, I would love to hear them!

Here are some more pictures of my ugly duckling.

I know I sound like a paranoid mother, but this is my first foal
