Very good - if you can get lots of practice in that will help perfect it.

Chester - what a good idea! I always hide the plait too, but have never thought of doing it that way - I always poke it on up under which is really fiddley. I will definately remember your way.

I usually do an inverted braid for tails - easier to get it tighter and neater (can't find any pics, so will do one on Smartie tomorrow and take a picture).

ack I wish I had picture...maybe I'll braid Royal up and take some pics haha

ANyway, yes its just a french braid...but to make it look really nice and polished here's some tips...
-make sure to start at the very top, yes it is difficult due to lack of hair hah
-take VERY small sectiond, like only a few strands, and be sure to take them from underneath the tail so the wrap around all the other hairs
-keep it TIGHT, the smaller the braid the easier this will be but at each crossover sinch i up nice and tight and also push upward with your thumb to keep it from drooping down
-when your all done I try to pluck and wispy hairs sticking out, then wrap with a tail wrap to keep it safe and flatten any stray hairs

As far as finishing it at the bottom there are several ways, the most traditional hunter type would be a pinwheel and that is what I usually do

I think you have it pretty right ....keep up the practise and it will get easier...The inverted braid does look pretty good...I could never get the hang of it... thankfully my hairdresser was also showing ponies , and I would rope him in to do mine
