Pics of the Quarter Pony rescues *as requested by belle4

These are the 'kids'. They have been here for just about a year now and its been a slooow process getting them back up to weight and health. For those of you who don't know their story (long story short) they were 2 yr olds out in a large mountain pasture (no actual pasture, just tons of trees, few scattered blades of grass, and hillside) and were being fed only occasional handfuls of garbage grass which seriously looked like clumps of grass that someone had pulled out in handfulls and dried. It was moldy and had large chunks of root and dirt at the bases of the clumps. Oh yeah, and occasional hand fulls of dog food for their 'grain'. They had no water because as the owner proudly announced "they don't need a bucket of water, you can watch them smart little horses just go out and DIG for their water". They were left alone by the owneres except when the owners needed something out of the shed that was in their pen... and when he went in there he always carried his 'big stick' to beat them back if they got close. *NOTE this is NOT just stories i heard..I witnessed all of this first hand! Severe hoof neglect which we are still working on to correct...UGH it was terrible.
Anyhow, we rescued the 3 of them (the 4th one died on location a couple of weeks before we could arrange for a fully enclosed trailer to get them here)

First pic is just a before pic....the stud is in the foreground, you can see the mares little pointed butts and hips peeking out from behind him.

here are the girls a couple of weeks ago. PLEASE excuse the mud and woolies.. i'm so embarrassed to show how it looks out here in winter!

Here is the stud this summer... *lol didn't like any of his winter fuzzy pics enough to share. They made him look like a woolie mule

awww, I am so glad you rescued them! You have done a great job them I can't believe the owners treated them that way, some people should never be allowed to own animals, it just makes you so mad to know there are TONS of animals out there who are treated this way

Wow, they already look so much better. Good job for taking on such a chore, you deserve a pat on the back.

They're looking good, keep up the good work, and no one will be able to tell that they looked as bad as they did when you got them!

WOW! They look great! They are some lucky horses to have had you come into their lives. Keep up the great work and sending pics - big or small.
