Pics of my arthritic old chap

Here are some pics of my old guy lunging - he is going downhill very fast right now - I dont think I will have him much longer but I am keeping him ticking over.

He is the best horse you could imagine - he was a real star in his "hey day" - jumping Grade C - foxhunters, when he got older and stopped competitive show jumping he did very well in pre-novce dressage comps and in "heavy hunter" showing and more recently he was taking ribbons in veteran and family horse (despite his size!) However his show days are over now but I want to keep him active till the end - he still loves his "work"

From the pics you will see just how straight his hind legs are now due to arthritic change and dropped heels but in the last pic you can see he is really making an effort to get under himself - he is such a good old guy

he looks very loved and well taken care for.. He almost looks like a horse I use to have.. He looks about the same size anyway.. He was a medicine hat gelding.

He is only about 22 or 23 - but he is a big heavy horse and to be honest he did too much too young - he was brought over from Ireland as a 3 year old and was jumped competitively since his arrival (not by me!)

Such a pretty horse. Looks like he is really trying to please. My arthritic mare hates working for me, so she is just the boss of the pasture. She seems to feel better once she is moving, but she gets really stiff.
