*PICS* Lucky, our newest rescue

This is Lucky. He is a rescue pit bull that we found in the middle of the road one day. We were so close to hitting him, we just had to bring him home even though it was around midnight. So we loaded him up and got him home. When we started checking him over we noticed that he was COVERED in fleas! I had never seen a dog with so many fleas ever! We thought he had mange, but it turns out to just be sores from scratching and hair loss because he has been so malnourished. We immediately gave him a good scrubbin' and treated his fleas. This dog was soooooo skinny. He has been severely abused. His first day here, he thought we were all going to hit him. Someone has ripped all but one of his toenails out in his back left foot and they also cut off a few toes. So we have been doctoring him and getting him back to health. It is amazing what some good food will do...these pictures were taken a day after we had him. The little pen was only temporary. Everything was temporary, we just needed to secure him for the night. He is sooo happy now! We have had him about a week and he is flea-free and starting to put a little weight on his bad foot. Every time I go change his water and feed him, he just licks me like crazy. He is so happy to be alive He would have been hit by a car if we were not there. He was in a curve in the road, and as soon as we walked him to our car, another car came around the curve. I am already so attached to him! He is such a sweetie! Anyways, sorry it is so long.....here are pics

That poor baby, thank you for rescuing him. I love pits, my pup Romeo was a hyper guy but he loved our family to death and sure knew his job was to protect us. Pits aren't a bad breed, they just seem to attract some bad owners

I can't wait to see what Lucky looks like in a few months. What are you using to treat his mange?

We have some stuff from the vet. We have rescued all of our dogs and most of our animals, so I have tons of stuff for whatever the critter needs. I do not think that pits are a bad breed at all, and I agree with you on the bad owners part. I have a pit bull/rottie mix and he is the best dog I have ever had. I have bought very few dogs, and the best ones were always the rescue mutts
