pics from today, look at that winter coat!

Well, after getting rather depressing news today I HAD to go to the barn. Dollar was actually a complete jerk today which I will elaborate on in the training section BUT I had to share pics of his glorious dark furry coat. In one of the pics I am resting my head on his back crying, it has just been such a long day and even with him being a brat it made me so happy to spend time with him that when I leaned over to sniff his fur I hugged him and cried

I actually think my little chunk has dropped a few pounds too, yippie!

Oh those are great pics... after everything you needed that time out w/ the horses.

The fuzzy winter coat is adorable. I feel so sorry for my horses b/c they've already got their winter coats and yesterday the humidity was so bad they were sweating like crazy. Its mid-October and I had to go spray them down w/ the hose to cool them off.

Expressa- I never thought of that for those of you in warmer climates. So far it has only gotten up to 50 and its windy to boot so theres are getting really thick!

I feel bad for your horses too! Is it usually that humid in Oct. that you would need to hose them? If I hosed mine now they'd freeze!

buggywhipp- when did your winter coats start coming in? This is my first year actually owning horses and I was surprised to see mine start getting them not quite a month ago and now they feel like giant plush snugglies Seeing as we will still have some days in the 60's, possibly 70's a few, I'm just surprised to see them so furry so fast!

I'm a coffee fanatic and today I told Tom(husband) that both of our horses in that first pic remind of a rich cup of cocoa or chocolate coffee, yum I guess I'll have to tell myself that when were riding in the dead of winter to make me think warm thoughts LOL

Im not sure if you know this already but horses grow their winter coats as the days get shorted and it gets dark earlier not as it gets colder. And its the oppisite in summer.
