Well yesterday Isis and I went to a PC ODE. I'm only a D1 so it wasen't all that challenging, but it was an EXCELLENT experience for Isis. For the first time ever she got to go out and ride on a cross country course and see all the big jumps. She did very well. For our dressage test we had to do USDF Intro A... They only gave me 20 minutes between formal inspection and my test to warm up and I wish we could have had more time but oh well. Isis was extremely tense through the entire test, I was riding like crazy and you could tell I was working hard to keep her under me, but we came out with a score of 38. (To those of us who are not eventers and just do normal dressage, that's equivelant to a 62%) "Cross country" was just going over ground poles which for us was very nice because I've never even had her on a cross country course before. She got to go by all the big jumps and get a good look at them while just having to go over ground poles. A good training experience for Isis rather then tough competition. ![]() A decent looking, but very tense 20 meter circle in dressage. For both circles, but particularly the one going to the left Isis felt like she was going to explode. She wanted to run out and you can tell in the picture that I'm working very hard with my outside aids to keep her on, I was half halting with my outside rein like crazy and using my leg pretty hard. (I misplaced my whip again so I did not have it to assist me) On my score sheet the judge commented that I made a "nice effort with my outside aids." That made me laugh. I know that if Isis were relaxed we could have scored tons better, but that's ok. ![]() Looking a little more relaxed here. ![]() Isis... ever the expert at the halt. ![]() Trotting towards "jump" #3 ![]() By the time XC came around Isis was settled into her environment. ![]() Over the last ground pole to the finish line. There were 8 ground poles spread around the XC course. It took me 1 minute and 27 seconds to clear it. The optimum time was 2 minutes but they weren't time faulting us so luckily I didn't get any penaltys. For this reason I let Isis take it at as fast a paced trot as she desired because I'm trying to encourage her to trot larger and faster, so I'm glad I didn't have to slow her down when she was trotting out so nicely. ![]() There were two "jumps" on the diagnol. This is the 1st... ![]() And this is the 2nd. THis is my fav pic of us "jumping." For those of us who were discussing my jumping position, my legs are at my comfortable in this picture. I think it looks pretty darn good myself.

That is certainly a lovely halt. Nice to see another person entering the world of jumping. Congrats on a good day.

Thanks! SunBun, the last time I measured her which was a year ago she was 15.2 HH. We measured her this past friday and she's just over 15.3.

Oh my goodness she looks like she's walking over the jumps in the stadium, and I love that pic of her going over the ground pole as if to say "why all the trip hazards, mum?" She's beautiful, and she definitely looks like she could've competed at a much higher level (despite your disappointment at her dressage -- I would give my right arm to get a 62 on a dressage test. |
