| Senior Member | I ride 6 days a week so my boy gets picked out everyday except the one day I don't ride. It's alot easier seeing as i live at the barn most days and work there to. |

| Senior Member+ | Penny gets her feet picked several times a day, every day. When the grooms pull her out in the morning for her turnout, she gets her feet picked before and after. When they groom her, they pick her feet. Whenever she's out of the stall, her feet are picked before she goes back in. And then I pick them before and after every ride.

| Senior Member+ | I pick my horses hooves once every day I'm out there, and if I ride I do it after I ride too. OUr footing in our arena LOVES to get jammed in there.

| Senior Member | I like to pick them everyday but I have slacked a few days when I can only be at the barn for an hour. But my horse spends half his day in his stall and half his day in an arena for turnout so he doesnt really run into alot which makes cleaning them really easy

| Senior Member+ | Religiously. They always get picked out after being brought in from the field and before they go back out. If they're being ridden then they are checked before and after - it's part of grooming so I do it automatically.

![]() | To be honest I never cleaned Palomas hooves. Paloma was horribly mistreated before we had her. The other day I attempted for her to give me her hoof I actually succeed. In the process of me tempting her to give me her hoof it was not easy she began pounding the ground. I commanded her to "stop'" and "no" with a stern voice. she responded and I praised her and caressed her with a treat. I continued to proceed, started to caress her from her shoulder down to her leg, taped her leg and at the same time asked her to give me her hoof. She actually gave me her foot, I did the same and again she gave me her hoof. I used the same procedure I used on the dogs when I ask for there paw, and it actually worked. I was amazed. That was one hoof and three to go. I't will be a miracale if she evening lets me touch her back legs. She kicks when I even tempt to wash, touch them or even put medication on her legs. Her back legs are marked with mistreatment. The past two owners could not even ride her. She was mistreated by them. At least we were able to ride her, but much work and patience needs to be done. |

| Senior Member+ | All of my horses have it done multiple times daily. Before being turned out. When coming in from turnout. Before they are ridden. After they are ridden. If riding in the arena and sand builds up in their hooves, then multiple (3-5) times during the ride. If riding in a field where there could be rocks, then at least twice during the ride. Before getting on a trailer (don't want them standing on a rock for a long ride!) If a horse is lunged, then it is done before and after. As you can see, we pick our horses hooves a lot. I would hate to have them get injured from something as preventable as a rock in the hoof.
