A pice of what I saw over the last week (pic heavy)

OK I was not sure where to put this so I“ll just put it here cuz this is about breeding horses... so here it goes

The biggest horse event in Iceland was held last week (the whole week) and I was there the whole time and I really want to shear so Im gonna show you the ones that charmed me the most

OK the horse that really made my week is Krummi (Raven) frį Blesastöšum (His breeders where also eleceted breeders of the year) he made 8.80 for talent and came in 5th place in the hardest class "7 years old and older stallions"
He radiated on the field and I feelt like I could feel his strength

Sigur (victory) frį Hólabaki just left me speech less with his beautiy
can you belive his color? he is DARK sorrel and I think he is flaxen also

Seišur (sorcery) frį Flugumżri came in 1 place in his class "4 y/o stallions" and really deserved it

Blęr (breeze) frį Torfunesi already a respected stallion came and did not let any one down

This littel girl competed with the big guys, lol she got so far up in the hunt for the best gaiter that all that was left where the most beautifullist of stallions to compete with, her name is Lady

inclueding her brother Žytur (whistling)

and Glymur (echo) frį Innri-Skeljabrekku

Grunnur (foundation) frį Grund is belived to be the biggest Icelandic stallion (not the biggest horse) he was just amazing, I really liked him for his roughness

Dimmir (dark) frį Įlfhólum made it to the Landsmót witch was fun cuz friends of mine are breeding there mare to him for free this year for a favor in return

The respected stallion Įlfur (elf) frį Selfossi came in 5th in his class "6 y/o stallions"
he is a blast this one!

WARNING! Famous stallions below!

Some very famous stallions where for show this weekend and one of them is THE stallion .. if you ever have looked into breeding of this breed you know one of them.. none other then Orri frį žśfu!
but Im gonna but this one up first cuz Orri“s pic will out shine him if you look at him first!

Keilir frį Mišsitju

and his back (I luv the dorsal stripe)

And now you can see the master....

behold!

Orri frį žśfu
he has over 1000 foles and never has any stallion on this island been used more for breeding than him, some even say that he has been used too mutch and in 20 years from now every icelandic horse will have his blood
he is 22 of age

LOVE the pictures! I know your mare is being bred soon...she is with the stud...thanks for sharing the pics of the BIG Icelandic show! Great Pictures, of Beautiful horses...I have had the privilige of riding Icelandic ponies/horses, and they are the nicest tempermented of any horse that I have ridden...

The first time I had the oppurtunity to ride one....I just tacked her up, and went with a friend on a trail ride...what a dream...now i kick my self in the behind for not buying her when I had the chance...for a pittley 2 hundred bucks! Papered and all... nice liver chestnut with a flaxen mane....if I had the chance to aquire one like that again...I would not turn it down...the friend that had that mare, also had an older one that she drove..what a nice old mare she was....god rest her soul....

Thanks for sharing the pictures of the show, and some of the best of the Icelandic breed! some people may not know that they are gaited, and can carry a lot of weight.....for a 14 plus hand pony/horse!

Cathy
