PIC - Me showing Western Pleasure (EEK)

I dug out an old box with some pictures so now I'll bombard you guys This was my Quarter Horse mare. Registered name Chica Star Tailwind. Mainly rode and shown Huntseat, but did a year of WP also. This was our ribbons after an Open Show. First and Third. Can't remember exatly what our classes were though. Too long ago. It was VERY hard for her to go in proper WP gaits so we went back to Huntseat. Eventually sold her as a broodmare to a lady in Milwaukee.

Don't mind my big honkin' glasses and the slumped over business. Didn't know ma was about to take the pic - lol. Didn't have her head down either. We were just standing there. But this is the only pic I have of me riding her WP.

Thanks guys! Here's another pic kinda unrelated to the topic, but I really hate to start another topic. Army of the Red Dot might get me.

From left to right is Twos, Monster, and Abby. Monster was a yearling in this pic. This was on the farm in Tennessee

Very cute mare, I just want to point out if you go in any WP classes these days, 88 the fuzzy girth and your hat should match your boots PS, how is your big gelding coming along with the WP??

I don't doubt it Spy. We had just a hodge podge mess going on. And that's a ROPING saddle, not even a WP show saddle. But we had fun and did decent in Open shows so that's all that mattered back 10 years ago

Actually, Kapitan is NOT coming along at all. He freaks out and ties up any time you do anything at all with him. So....he's a 7 year old Warmblood pasture ornament I guess.

Here's another pic. Just scanned it. This was the 30+ year old Arabian mare I rescued. She was at a huge Hanoverian breeding farm and was being starved to death. Had eye and uterine infections. Hooves hadn't been done in years. Right leg was several inches longer than the other and she could barely walk.

I paid $700 for her, got her turned around, only did light trail riding. In this pic she was still VERY THIN. I have a fat pic of her but it's on my desk at work. Anyway, this is my hubbs. This was the first time he ever rode a horse so he looks like a goon

Only had her 2 years then she passed on. She was just so old.

Well, at least the old gal had her last 2 years in comfort
Sorry to hear that about Kapitan, it's watch one with so much potential graze all day, huh??

Yeah, I don't know what to think about Kapitan. We're thinking of starting him back MEGA SLOW. I mean like - session 1 will be saddling, bridling, and then unsaddling and bridling. Session 2 will be saddling, bridling, then walking about around the yard for a minute, etc. I've never encountered a horse like this.

That Arab mare looks like my husband's old Arab mare, Bein. He got her as a 4 y/o and now she is 20. She is our "Guest Horse". Anybody can ride her.
