Penny rug... pictures.

This is a penny rug. It's made with wool and then beaded. I'm almost done, just need to scallop the boarder and then serge around the outside. It's going to sit on my kitchen table.

It's not hard to make, but with anything "home-made", it takes time. You can't really see all the beads, but there are 100's of them all hand sewn.

Yes, I made it all. Yes, I sleep and eat. In fact, I do a lot of cooking, especially baking.

It's the winter, nothing much to do with the horses, so my sister and I sew and craft.

And I'm really not all that talented. I can sew a straight line, follow directions and have the time. That's all it takes, that and dedication to complete projects.

What fabrics did you use? Is it the same kind as quilting? (using whatever is around?)

No, not the same as quilting. My quilts are made from a high quality 100% cotton, specifically made for quilting, little to no fray.

The penny rug is made out of wool.

Aren't you kind for asking me. Nothing like humoring an old lady.
