Oh you'd better bet I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one! Hoping for an adorable little Yauvani II next year

320 to 370 days is considered normal gestation for the equine. You can go to: http://www.equine-reproduction.com/a.../overdue.shtml to see the normal range and percentages thereof. ONly about 20% of foals are born around 340 days <smile>.

2. Once again shipping her. I'm so nervous about moving Penny while she is so "fresh" from being bred. She would be trailered 3 hours only a week after she was bred. She trailers very well, but I've heard that one should generally wait 45 days before transporting a mare. Stories of your experiences transporting freshly bred mares would be wonderful.
Actually, it's not the transporting that is the issue, it's the risk of pathogens or the risk of increasing core body temperature. So, unless you're hauling her when the ambient temperature is very high or if you're taking her to a location that has a current outbreak of some disease, you should be fine.

Did you change stallions or stick with your original choice?

Hope that helps and good luck!

Thanks a ton Kathy. I will keep those two factors in mind.

The plan is to breed back to Yeager GF this year and we are first in line to receive frozen semen from Capone I. We will receive I believe 2-4 straws and just hang onto them until we are ready to breed in again in 2009.

There's info up on the Exitpoint website, last I checked. Sounds like Super was the one who did indeed remove him from the premises.

I'm so excited for this baby, Suz.

i wouldn't be too worried about trailering her 3 hours, after all mares do travel further after being bred and still have a bub 11 months later she will be fine, i have a good feeling about this time around.
