Talking Pee Spot Tip

Have a horse that has a stall but can come and go as they please?

Well...Fiona does. And I learned a little trick from my boss who owns a big gelding and 6 minitaures...

Take your horse's pee spot and put it in their paddock/pasture somewhere...They will pee in that spot more then their stall.

I can vouch for this! I decided to try it with Fiona so when I cleaned her stall I took her pee spot and made an area a bit of a ways from her stall(I also used 'clean' shavings still in her stall to make the area bigger)...now she pees in that pile more then her stall!

My boss's gelding does this(it is SO nice to clean his stall LOL) and she's started doing this with her minis and they all go in the same area now.

It makes cleaning so much easier.

Yup, my horse hated peeing in his paddock cause its hard packed dirt and it spalshes (oh the horror and humiliation to pee on ones toes LOL) Well, I had a hollow spot I was trying to fill so I was putting old shaving in there, he started peeing there instead of going to his stall all the time. Now I keep that spot bedded all the time, saves a lot of stall cleaning as the rain washes away the pee.

Luckily Fiona only poos in corners, SO easy to clean the paddock! LOL

I didn't think it would work with Fiona 'cause I didn't put it in a corner(she does everything in the corners LOL) but it's been working. She goes in her stall a little still, but not a lot.

haha that's useful! it's the same with rabbits... if you move their poops to another area they think they did it there so they poop wherever they find their old poop. lol... Sunny is pasture board, though, so he goes where he pleases, and Cabby has i guess stallion hormones that make him have his certain spots that he must go in instead of surrounding himself with poop. he has little piles! lol.
