I'm not going by pictures as they're not really critique type pictures but going by bloodlines (for me personally) my favourite is Royally Smarter

Like their bloodlines for cow horses! Of course with Driftin Page you have 4x to Driftwood which makes it great all by itself, but then you add Peter McCue, Leo, Bert 2x, Oklaholma Star, Joe Bailey, Midnight and the Triangle Horses and you've got major cow blood. Tuck has some very nice lines with Peppy, Doc Bar, and Wimpy. But, what makes it for me is the Holey Sox!!!! He was a great sire of cutting horses. He is a awesome horse to have in the bloodlines. But, my favorite is Roy!!!!!!!!! He's double bred Smart Little Lena with the addition of Little Joe and Wagner Horses. But what really makes it sparkle is the 2x to Big N.igger from Harmon Baker. Most of our ranch horses will go back to Big N.igger and they are the absolute best minded, hardest working horses on the place. What do you do with your horses?

| Senior Member | I think the pedigrees are not bad at all but I am looking back further than most since I showed the latter line of Leo, Doc Bar, Poco Lena, Peppy That never hurts to have those back there for sure. Nice horses.

Driftin Page- nothing overly spectacular in his lines at first glance, but when you dig deeper, there is some nice "cowy" blood there Royally Smarter- Holy Cr.ap!!!!! this horse is bred to DEATH!!! Talk about cow!!!! WOW!!! He sould be doing some serious stuff LOL...very nice here Tucks My Boy- Also has some seriously GREAT cow lines...lots of Lena in these ponies all right!!! I think I like his lines the best as there is not as much inbreeding as with Royally Smarter, but still...WOW!!

Yes, Roy is cutting 'royalty' lol. And yeah, with the inbreeding, he's my little hillbilly horse(not a big fan of that either). He was in pro training for reining futurities as a 2yo but his owners got divorced so he went through an auction asa 3yo. The lady who bought him just wanted a horse to hop on sometimes so he lived in a big pasture alone until he was eight. One night she found him racing up and down the highway and decided to sell him. A new lady bought him, tried to make him a barrel horse (really not his thing, he hates it even though he's okay at it) She really didn't want to sell him and only let me test ride him to compare with the gelding I was looking at. Buuut even though he was the laziest, spookiest beast I'd ever been on, I liked something about him, so I talked her into selling him to me. I've had him five years now, work a ranch with him and team pen. He's won me many a title. He doesn't have the mind for heavy competition; it wears him down fast. But he loves to work and be fussed with, so he found the right home.

Nothing except Leo stands out at first glance with Page. But, like doublebar said, when you dig a little deeper he turns out to be a driftwood boy. Not bad. Roy is a horse I wouldn't mind having out in my pasture. If you wake up and he's gone, he's at my house. Talk about cutting lines! Wooooweee. Now that's a cutting horse. Id' really like to see him work sometime. Nice horse. The only thing I like about Tuck is the badger in him. everything else is just common quarter horse. Not bad at all, but nothing special. |

lucky pine, I doubt you'd want Roy right now; after his first winter without work/me home to watch his weight, he's as big as a house. Riding him bareback is like sitting on a table! Page's lines are older, like her, lol. Her sire, Blaze Drift, was a NCHA champ in his day. Like some of you said, Tuck has some good, some average in there. His sire was pretty much unshown due to injury, but his grandsire on that side cleaned up in Utah/Idaho reined cowhorse competitions. I like his lines more because of the diversity. Page is pretty much retired and was so before I got into penning because of an injury. She's still a quick, catty mare, even at 24, and when cows are with her, she doesn't hesitate to have a go at them. It's the boys who are the workers. They two of them stare at every cow they can see for hours on end. All you have to do with them is LOOK at what cow you want; once they've locked in, that cow doesn't stand a chance. I didn't expect to be impressed with Tuck after riding Roy for so many years, but wow, you can definately feel generations of cowhorses in there! The first time he saw cows in his life, as a 3yo, he cut out two at once. (And they weren't those loser easy cows either.) He read them like a book. Very glad that he's following in his big bro's hoofprints. Thanks for posting guys! I love getting opinions on my kiddies |
