Smile

I too think that they are pretty but they are also LOUD and messy!
Peacocks scream warnings whenever something seems wrong, especially at night. If a branch falls or an animal walks by--everyone will hear about it for sure! If you get some I doubt your neighbors will become big fans of the birds!

in some areas of the US, a wildlife license is required to have peacocks and hens on private property. they ARE noisey and quite messy, not always being well received by closer neighbours.

I only have one neighbor within "hearing" distance. The acres in front and beside me are for sale, maybe a good deterent of clearing the land

I am zoned to have them as I have seen them in my hood! Messy was not mentioned in any articles i read.. they do say they eat bugs, a plus where I live. If they are free to wander an acre are they messy?thanks!

Yes, they are messy.
They are good size birds so their doppings do have a noticable size to them.
They will perch on your house and/or on your car and that can get quiet messy!
The males have been known to attack their own reflection when seen on a shiney surface or windows so can do damage.

I have heard that some people consider them quiet tasty too.

We used to have 10 pea's... but were down to 1... coyotes

They are extremely loud, but you get used to it... though they always wait until your trying to talk to someone and then they go off, it drives me insane.

You will have to keep them locked up, or they will try to go 'home.' We originally had 4 whom were born and raised here, when we got a few more they stayed around with the 4 boys and then their babies stayed as well.

All of our gates, fences, chairs, tables, railings, and the porch are covered in peacock ****.

How right you are!!!! Down the road from my friends place, some people decided to get a couple, well they multiplied. They now run the road and when they speak, my goodness, it sounds like babies crying. Peacocks and guinneas are quite popular around here.
