Parelli "like" training aids on ebay?

Does anyone have any experience with the training aids on ebay that are "like" Parelli or Clinton Anderson's training aids? I'm looking for a Parelli halter and carrot stick, but they're so darn expensive! I don't want to buy something that's not really the same calibur though, as $50 is $50, and I'd rather not just waste it if this tack isn't going to work the same. This is the set I'm looking at: http://cgi.ebay.com/LEAD-STICK-FITS-...item4a98cacb59

Thanks for your help!

I have no idea about the quality of those. But I can tell you that I made my own "carrot stick" out of an old lightweight broom handle and some twine.... and it works great!

LOL! I have done the same - just used an old lightweight piece of balsa wood which is about the right length and some plaited bailing twine!!

You guys are killing me. Hah. I guess if I wanted to buy one of the Parelli "like" carrot sticks then, that'd be okay if I can find an actual Parelli halter.

A decent ordinary well fitted rope halter will work as well.
I find when buying just about any product with a name attached to it you are paying a lot for the name.

That's the tendency most times...I didn't know if the Parelli ones were made out of a specific material that differed from regular rope halters- same for the carrot stick- that's the vibe I got out of the old Parelli thread dated 2005.

I ordered my no name "carrot stick" from the local tack store. $18. I have used my stepmoms REAL Carrot stick and there is NO difference in weight, flexibility or sturdiness.

Plus mine is purple instead of hideous orange

Heh- I want a hideous one so I don't lose it.

Thanks though-- I'll probably buy a no name carrot stick to try out.

For a rope halter, I would suggest the Double Diamond halters. Really nice quality, come in a thinner weight if wanted and nominally priced.
