I was going to say I think if you cross 2 palominos you will probably get a cremello. To try for a palomino, go with a chestnut mate. Altho I Have seen a light palomino app X red chestnut = even-lighter palomino baby.
I know a woman who bred her palomino to a black and was disappointed with the beautiful gold buckskin result; she was trying to get a BAY ( true but IMO laughable)

palomino to palomino will give you 50% chance of chestnut, 25% chance of palomino and 25% chance at cremello

NO chance of OLWS, unless both also happen to be OLWS positive overo's as mentioned already

Make sense?!

Actually with two palominos you'd only have a 25% chance of a cremello baby. You'd have the best shot at a palomino (50%) and that last 25% would be chestnut. So you'd have the same chance of getting a palomino baby as with a palomino with a chestnut.

Okay, maybe I'm wrong then...I could have sworn you'd have 75% chance of having at least one ccr gene with two C/ccr parents...

Exactly.
Except palomino x palomino gives you 50% palomino, 25% chestnut/sorrel, and 25% cremello

So...
100% red based
75% with at least 1 cream gene(the palomino....an of course the cremello carrying 2 copies of the cream gene) and the remaining 25% having no cream dilution (sorrel/chestnut)

prettyqtrs - thanks for the correction! I think I had a brain freeze for a moment!

Of course when you breed a Palomino x Palomino, you have the following chances as stated - 25% Sorrel, 50% Palomino and 25% chance Cremello. Any foal from this mating would be homozygous for red and has a chance of inheriting the dilution gene from one or both of its parents.
