Owning a mostly white horse... WHAT was I thinking!

Omg. I have the dirtiest horse alive! My leopard gelding is a hog... All I do is wash wash wash and all he does is ROLL! Blahahahahhhaa. The white horseys are sooo purdy but man it takes a lot of work to keep them that way! Man... a nice solid appy with a small blanket and no leg markings sure sounds nice. hehe. If I ever am in the market for another appaloosa... please slap me if I go looking at another leopard!

No real point to this post... Its just 2 am and I can't sleep! I think the purple shampoo is finally seeping into my brain... God knows I come in contact with it enough.

Oo. I've got to upload pics of him... I had to take some of him after the storm we had the other day. you couldn't even see his spots.

Be careful bathing him too often.

I'm finding that my gelding stays remarkably clean with his fly sheet on, and SHINY, too. Like GLEAMING.

And he's about 99% white, being a lightly flea-bitten grey (he's probably up to about 2-300 spots now. He had about 8 when I first bought him).

lol I think white/light colored horses like to be as dirty as possible. Years ago I took lessons with my sister who rode a white horse named George. Almost every week he would be covered in an inch of dried mud. Even with my mom helping my sister I could usually get my horse ready before George. Even if you take into account the fact that he was white and showed dirt much more easily he was still the dirtiest horse in the barn by far.

I also have a flea bitten grey, I left the day sheet off this weekend because temps are high and I could not get out. I am curious to see how dirty she got lol.

Rinse before rides and rinse after rides with baths at your discretion but do not wash every day I do every 10-14 days. I wash the mane ans tail every day (they are mostly white).

I used to have an appaloosa. He was a near leopard and had a mainly white base coat, a mixture of brown and black spots, silver-grey mane and tail and roan-grey legs and neck. He obviously didn't think he had enough colours on his body because he liked to roll in the grass to add green stains, the buttercups to add yellow stains and the poop to add greeny brown stains. Honestly, he looked some some kind of walking rainbow!
