Thanks. Yes, papers are suppose to be delivered for the dad in the mail. Then I have to register with the groups, I guess as I do with my goats (ABGA etc) to get the papers.

She is getting her black lines behind the legs and yes that does look like rubbing. I always thought it was from her laying down she was rubbing that particular part. She is very nice. I'm amazed how muscular she really is and such definative lines in her body shape. She has a shorter neck. Just looks like everything is somewhat compacted together. Her width/thickness goes well with her height right now.

ACC- I'm still voting for her to look like her mother. My only difference now is she might be a little lighter than Yankee. We'll see!

Just a guess, but I would say a little lighter, but mostly redder.

No chance you could get a pic of the sire? I'd love to see what helped put that body on this baby!

Hi everyone. Again Spring has hit us and we are busy, busy with our animals and ranch. I wanted to update with our Doodle and Yankee.

Yankee is doing well. I have not ridden her yet but she does all her ground work well and takes a blanket and saddle. She has gotten alot of the attitude gone. She is doing great and for the past week I have been having a hard time keeping weight on her. She seems boney to me so I will worm her again and feed her four times a a day.

Doodle is still a little charm. She stands for her halter, leads around, picks her feet and stands for the farrier, bathes with a hose, loves to be groomed and likes to play peek a booh with the horse blankets. I have not tried her in a trailer because I dont want to hurt her so I'll leave that to the trainer or have her show me how.

Her color is changing. Her legs have turned brown and it is not black hair as thought to be on my last post. Her eyes are not black around but a deep red/brown like her nose. Her mane is getting much redder. She looks really neat colored right at this time of the year. I'm just still curious to see her true coat one year. She is still bright red and almost orange with the sun glowing through her hair. She still has silver hairs growing through her mane (it could be white hairs). She is TALL! Lovely personality, SMART (she is doing all kinds of ground work on her halter and lead rope), quiet, and extemely well built body still. This little filly has a ton of potential.

I have not gotten word nor mail from the sires owner as I was promised. I dont know if I need to pursue the issue or let it go. I'm getting to the point where I am content with Doodle and she is not going anywhere. So that is STILL up in the air. Crazy issues.

Pictures of Doodle can be seen here on this page http://www.loosegooseranch.com/doodle.html

Just click on any pic to make it larger.

Hope everyone is well with their new babies too!

Take Care.

Aww, love her!

Trailer training is easier than you might think, especially because she has so much trust. Might want to wait until she was weaned/a little bigger (just in case she were to pull back against the halter or something...they're so delicate as babies). It's the older horses who have already figured out how to cause problems with trailer loading where it's difficult. Babies approach it like everything else.

And I'd try really hard to get in contact with her sire's owner if that will help you register her. It never bothered me having a grade gelding even though he was registerable as a morab and half arabian (morgan/arabian). However, now that I'm trying to sell him, it makes finding him a good home just that much harder. Even if papers don't mean anything to you, it's one of the best things you can do for your horse just in case.

Ok I just joined and decided to read some old threads and I got hooked on this one. It was like a novel you just couldn't put down. I swear I was reading for 3 hours and was getting nervous until it was time lol. Congrats on the beautiful baby. Mom looks like she is an awesome one and I doubt you will have any problems with them. Good Luck!
