Yes she is very uncomfortable with the foal. We are at (aprrox) day 310.

Wait and wait, thats what this is all about. I do have to say, after all the fence/shelter work, I'm happiliy and anxiously awaiting. Mud, rain and freezing weather, haha.

I hope she has it after these storms and YES I very much agree not to encourage an early foal and I'm happy to wait as long as it takes. I dont mind sleeping in the Lazy Boy waking up with a crooked back and eyes all bagged up from trying to stay awake and stare at a 13 inch monitor all night..........lol. Now please dont tell me you have'nt????

The ONLY reason I think she is near instead of uncomfortable is all the relaxation that has occurred in the past two days. Her butt - legs very soft to the touch and sunken. Her dock is up by iteself. Tail to the side all day. Well, we all agree and know one thing to be absolutely true ---She is in foal.

I'll let you know any serious changes and thanks for the support.

I'm not sure if anyone has told you, but if you see her sort of picking at her food, but not really eating it all, that usually means she's going to go into labor within the next 24 hours. Not all mares will do that though. Just thought I might let you know, both of my mares did it before they foaled, and I was able to catch one within the hour of her foaling. The other foaled during the day when we certainly weren't expecting it.

Its funny you mention that. Yesterday and today she seems to yawn alot. She also sometimes is resting and has hay left in her mouth. Her saliva literally was drooling out of her mouth yesterday. I think she was very tired then.

Today, I just brought her in before the rain hit again. She yawns and kicks just about the same time.

ANother yawn........she yawned all day and kicked her belly. ALong with other tired/uncomfry signs.

Yawning is a BIIIGGG sign. Keep an eye on her tonight (I know you will), but I'm thinking she is realllllllllllllly close.

Pregnant mares usually yawn for 1 or 2 reasons. 1 is pain. Mares will yawn when they are in pain (impending sign). 2 is to get more oxygen into the system. There is a belief that mares try to get as much oxygen into her and the baby's blood shortly before birth and that is acheived by yawning.
