Yeah she seems miserable but I truly think she has a ways to go. She is suppose to be at 9 months. And we are trying to get that makeshift corral safe in all ways for the foal. We have capped tposts, filled in the gaps where the wood has been missing......looks and is safe now. We'll be putting up a shelter now which was on the plans for a few weeks. Adult horses are ok but babies, this is not the place yet so we make shift it to be This baby is even pushing the fencing issue.......lol.

I truly would love to have this foal after we settled the property.....in a more sane comfortable way........but I would guess Yankee nor the baby really thinks about all this!

I'll let you know updates...... and thanks.

She sure looks like she's getting close....her tail swishing might be because the foal is kicking in there, or maybe she don't like her tail braided? She sure does have a huge belly though! Cathy

Yes, the foal has been moving alot lately. Like all day everyday, except for today and yesterday it kinda subsided and so did Yankees tail swishing. We groom her every other day and rebraid, but the last week she does not want to be touched at all. I can barely rub her kneck and she will come for a nose/head rub, thats it! Pissy she is!

Of all things, how they take place, I just heard from the previous owner. She claims now that Yankee is 10 months in foal give or take two weeks. lol. I wrote her and told her I was worried with all Yankee was doing....and she wrote back.

Yes, she is getting big for sure

A bit more frequent updates than I thought I would be giving but I had to add this one today.

I went to feed and watched Yankee. My first thought as I approached her was "wow". She has a drastic change overnight. Her foal is totally sitting underneath her now and is no longer what I would say "on her sides". It's like a round balloon under her teat area shaped and down to just behind where your stirrup would be. She is flat on the bottom of her belly? That is weird. She seems fine this morning in attitude and only slaps her tail when the foal had movement. Xiphias may be right about irritated when the foal moves. What a drastic change this is this morning .

Well, just started reading this thread: exciting, but confusing, eh?

At least you have a good idea of who might be the sire, sort of. Two is iffy, but better than no idea at all.

It seems that you'll soon have a baby on your hands, probably colored.

Congratulations! Be sure to post baby pics as soon as the little guy pops out.

BTW: Just looked at the pics you posted... is she waxing or is that something else?

I thought it was waxing but I guess maybe not. It is her teats tipped with a honey color stuff a few days. No foal yet and she looks very prenant. I expect one by the end of Feb and no later. She looks swayback now and has relaxed even more in her hind quarters, vulva. Though she doesnt feel like jello as a lady showed me where to look. BUT, that same lady thought she was due in late March/April comparing her boarded pregnant mares to yankee. She also says her mares are much larger but Yankee I found out is a Maiden mare. ANyhow I gave Yankee her day 300 on Jan 21st on estimation of what I have been told. That 300 day included taking two weeks from her estimated 340 day prenancy. Almost done with her comfy area to give birth so that is alot of stress off us.
