Our newest Rescue Mickey

We were contacted by a lady who sold a pony sized horse to some people down the road, they wouldn't ever return her calls, avoided her, etc. Finally she got the sheriff involved and went and got the horse back. She's in bad shape. She has a huge absess on her chin, which they told her happened because she flipped herself over while tied. Well, when I washed it off today, it looks like perfect teeth marks from another horse. Her jaw is broken, She has thrush so bad her feet bled when I cleaned them out. And she's skinny.... Give me a few months, and we should be on the road to recovery.

Mickey

and Mickey's chin, I am just keeping it draining, she's already seen their vet, and been on a week of antibiotics. It's still just running stuff out of it. Ughhh poor baby girl

It is un believeable how people can do that to a horse or any other animal!!Well I am glad to hear you have her and is on her way to recovery. Were the people charged with animal cruelty or neglect?

I'm not sure what is going on exactly, they gave her to us, so we didn't really question much, just wanted to help these people out. They feel so bad they sold her to that home.

She did say that the sheriff came and took pictures of her and the story before we picked her up. So hopefully something will be done about it. We are on another horse board with the previous owners and they will be kept aprised of her recovery.

She is the absolute sweetest mare, I can't wait to see her feeling good again.

Bless you.
Thankfully the Sherriff in the area you live does help with this sort of thing.
Some areas, they wont' even deal with it.

Chrissy,

Cathy was almost crying on Sunday after seeing your new rescue mare. She said that next time you go to an auction, like where you got cracker, and find more horses in serious need of TLC, that she would take one or two and help them on the road to recovery. It's awesome that you do this for these animals--they look so different when you're done with them!

Poor thing, it's a good thing that she has you to care for her.

Are sure that she doesn't have laminitis? Bleeding feet makes me think that it's something other than thrush.

aww Poor girl. Atleast she is in really good hands now. I don't know how anyone could do that. I'm glad you have her and she will be taken care of.

Off of this topic but I just have to ask. Did you breed Duke back to Shena for a 2006 foal? Splashy was my favorite foal you had last year.
