Ouchy!

Ouchie! I just came back from the barn and this girl named Cadence(caity) who i ride with got kicked in the mouth on saturday! She got kicked by this one pony named Marty at our barn, she was turning him and her pony out (Brownie) and he turned around and she couldnt hold on, he was excited and kicked her right in the jaw. Poor girl has 12 stiches in her mouth and outside of her mouth! She has braces too, so thats why it was soo bad. She inst suppose to ride for like 2 weeks, but she rode today since shes going away for a week. I feel so bad for Caity! Shes such a nice person..and soo tough! she didnt cry or anything! I was thinking tomyself when she was telling me the story, Oh my word that must of hurt!

Let this be a warning, just watch out if the horses are excited and your turning them out! Marty has never done that, but i was cold outside and he was feeling good

OW is an understatement! I hope she feels better soon! That's one reason they say never slap a horse's butt when you turn them out; they can cold-clock you and you'll never see it comin'. Ow...

Awww, bless her heart! She sounds like a real trooper. Poor girl! I turned April out the other day & she was excited & missed my stomach with her back feet by inches. I stand WAAAAAYYY back now! LOL!

Now you know that had to hurt. Hope shes ok. I never turn Quest out at the gate. I alway walk him into the pasture and make him stop and stand and then take the halter off so he is away from me cause he alway takes off and bucks.

i had the same thing happen when i was 14. it sucked. it doesn't necessarily mean she slapped the horse on the butt. i didn't and still got kicked in the jaw. had my teeth rearranged for me. and the worst part was i had only had my braces off for 4 days and they had to put my teeth back into place with a wire mesh. i now have a bridge and had to get a root canal. this was on a friday night (noone was home, everyone was at a football game). that sunday i was supposed to leave for my state fair to compete. i still went, but after my rides each day i downed the drugs to get rid of the pain. and i couldn't really talk or eat. for showmanship i would try to smile but it hurt so bad.
