I have a concern I was hoping some of you could shed some light on. My mare got a cut about 3" long on her back left leg on the inside hock, I had the vet out and he gave a tetnus, tranqed her, and cleaned it out and sprayed it with this spray on bandage stuff, he also gave me a tube of bute and some anitbiotics to give twice a day. I have followed orders and cold hosed once a day for 10-15 mins. Stall rest for 3 days. Now there is some orange bubbly pus coming from the wound. What does this mean? Is it just part of cleaning itself out and healing?
One of the horsey mom's at the barn I am at is a Vet Tech and she cleaned it out with this special soap she had and told me to clean it out like that every other day (I will be tonite again)...Should I be getting more antibiotics or having the vet out or is this normal? He didn't tell me to scrub it out every day, just cold hose, and I would clean out the big pieces of bedding I found in it. ~any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated~ Thanks!
