Opinions wanted on pricing of halter colt plz...

I was wondering, what is the price range in your area for a nice, AQHA halter prospect weanling that is in great shape, great health, great temperament, excellent conformation, well balanced/muscled/proportioned. He is a chestnut with a blaze face and one hind sock (not that color matters). He is a stud-colt that should mature at around 15.2 maybe 15.3 hands. He is nominated to the Incentive Fund and is also eligible for the Ky breeders incentives which brought over $2700 per point earned this year. Needless to say if I don't sell him I plan on trying to make some Moolah with him in yearling halter here in KY next year.

He is HYPP N/N, he hasn't been tested himself because both his sire and dam are tested N/N. Here's his pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/obviously+concentual

His sire is an earner of Am and Open halter ROM with numerous grand championships and this weanling is eligible for two separate kentucky QH associations' futurities, as well as GQHA futurities. The stallions stud fee is $1000. The dam of the weanling is by Concention (by world ch and res world ch Obvious Conclusion) and she is out of a mare thats a grandaughter of Conclusive and Te N Te.

Here are a few quick snapshots taken about a week or two ago while I was gone to work. His coat is better now and his muscling is getting better too with each week that passes. Sorry if they aren't good side shots or anything, my mother took them while I was away at work.

Just going by the "stud fee = three times foal cost" estimate I casually priced him at $3000 for 2007. I have somebody coming to look at him wednesday and was just wondering if that's a fair price.

IF this KY incentive is 2700 per point again next year that would mean that if you can just get only one point on this guy as a yearling then he'll 90% pay for himself. He loves people, loves new places, is great for hauling and leading around at shows, sets up pretty naturally and doesn't mind standing still but remaining alert.

He's fine for trimming, bathing, all the good stuff

I just wanted to know what weanlings like this are bringing in your area?

BTW if this is in the wrong place mods I'm very sorry and feel free to move it. I'm not meaning to advertise or get confo critique, I just would like an opinion on his pricing!

Pictures? That would help a lot. There is such a range to pricing it is hard to nail it down. Is there anything else for sale in your area that is comparable? CA QH people are starting to catch onto the KY incentive so advertising him in this area might be worthwile.

No, I'm pretty sure that people have been rewared for their 2006 earnings, and it has continued and will continue to at least 2008.

Check out these:

Well I hope that the KY incentive fund helps him. A friend here in MO just sold a bunch of his halter and performance bred offspring and they brought $75 to $400. All had point earning sire and dams and all were our of a world champion on at a least one side. The high selling horse out of the bunch was a 2 year old palomino filly that sold for $400.

WOW Mary! That's depressing! Fortunately I think the market here may be a bit on the rise. As far as I've seen the prices of horses are rising for ones that:

1. don't have a wound
2. aren't obviously sold by a "trader"
3. don't have some unknown thing ("donno where that thurr bump came from!) / ("this baby isn't hypp tested because I don't think she is positive!")
4. aren't going ballistico before the sale
5. can travel well and with ease, no lameness
6. look like somebody actually cared to get them show/sale prepped.

All the horses that are-doing/do-have all those first 4 have plummetted in price because there are plenty of good horses and people don't want to waste their time on a chance anymore or a fixer upper.

Gosh are anybody elses prices as low as the ones in HHF's area???

Almost, at a sale I was at the could not give away halter bred horses. They all ended up getting PO'd It did not matter if they were tested/not tested n/n or what. People around here want a using horse a horse that can work a cow and can day a day of ranch work.

On average horses were going for 400-700 and weanlings and yearlings were from 100 to 400.

Really nice halter bred weanlings would be anywhere from $1000 to $3000. I could go out and find any number of world champion bred babies for around a $1000.
