Opinion on a name/introducing a potential new baby!

Well I'm very excited to say tomorrow I may be signing the papers to bring home a new baby! Well a 14 year old baby She's 16.3, a TB, never raced, competed through novice level eventing, and well the owners are friends of mine and don't want her anymore. She's too hot for them, not really spooky just forward over jumps, and she's flipped out on the trailer twice, so they're worried about competing her. Well I was ready to offer them some cash, but the woman is a friend of mine and told me she'd give me the horse. She'd rather it just go to me, than dealing with selling it, and worrying about finding a good home! On top of that although she's never had soundness issues (which I know for a fact since I've known the horse for as long as they've owned her, and work for her vet, and she passed her pre-purchase exam when they bought her), they're worried just because of her age and what not she may not pass a pre purchase exam with flying colors. Not a bad deal right? I decided with my work schedual opening up (I just dropped my part time job, due to a nice raise in my current job) I wanted a bit of a project. Well I'm going to have the vet take a look tomorrow and were drawing up the papers I'm going to try and take a few pictures tomorrow and get them up here.

Now for the name, my oldest sister has been working in mexico (she's a dr) and my nephew has grown up there, so I always speak spanish with him. Well the other night he asked about how weddings work, and I explained, and then talked about how must couples go on a honeymoon to celebrate. In spanish honeymoon is "Luna de Miel". It just kind of struck me, and I was thinking about calling the mare "Luna" as a barn name. What do you guys think?

I love the name. It's a classy sounding show name, and "Luna" makes an adorable barn name. But, what's her current name? Why are you changing it?

Her name is *******... I guess its a family name or something *looks around* yeah doesn't really suit her at all, nor do I really care for it :P I just couldn't go around calling such a beautiful horse "Gerty" all the time

Luna is a gorgeous name and i think that having her full name "Luna de Miel" is a great idea, very unique.

That's a great name! I don't know any Spanish, but I sure like that! Great choice!
