One month update on Treasure, my rescue

Well you all may remember my original post on the 12 year old OTTB mare that I took in from a very bad situation. Well, it has been just 2 days over a month, and I thought some new pictures were due. Plus, I got a new digital camera and went picture crazy!

I got two new "rescues" in last night. While they weren't starved, the mare really really needs hoof work, and their owners were desperate, they could not afford to go to the feed store again and the horses were on the verge of running out of their last bag of grain and their last bale of hay. So the people contacted me and sent them to me to find them a home, rather than starve them. YAY for somebody actually doing the right thing! So many times I wish someone had realized this very thing..that they couldn't properly care for their horse and to find them a home BEFORE they ended up in the shape Treasure was when she got here! Anyways, I'll start another thread on them (their names are Willow and Jackson, a mare and her colt).

This was Treasure 2 days before she arrived (she arrived May 17th). As you can tell, she was in desperate need of some help.

This was her this morning at feed time. She has such a quieter, calm demeanor about her now that she knows she's going to be fed 3x a day, on time, every time. And all the TLC and grooming and loving she enjoys. She is now lunging with a saddle and bridle on, and hopefully we'll be able to see what she can do under saddle soon!

The place she came from fed hay and feed out of those round cow bale thingys...and she would stick her head through to eat, and it rubbed her mane off. It was actually bald there a month ago. So it's growing in rapidly. Means she's getting good nutrition!

She has filled out very nicely in her shoulder, and back. Glad you are doing more than just feeding, building up muscle is half the battle to get them to fill out properly. She is looking so much better, shiney coat, gaining muscle and weight, keep up the good work
