my horse had something similar but not nearly as bad. i would call up your farrier and ask he/ or she about it. mine was small enough that i had a farrier that stayed at my barn clip it off, but yours is worse. GOOD LUCK!

When was the last time your farrier was out? The pics are a bad angle, but there seems to be a lot of hoof on there.

These photos are at a bad angle. But they make it appear as if the horse has a very long hoof form. That is something that your farrier can fix along with any imbalances which are causing the crack.

Is it a superficial crack? Or is it open into the underlying tissues?

Dancers hoof did that right before the last farrier visit but is was more at an angle instead straight up and down. She does not seem effected by it though.

Your farrier should help. However, you can use bondo to attach and help keep it from going any higher.

Hopefully by now your farrier has hit the scene... mine would likely examine it, take off what was cracking, epoxy everything up, and trim of course (looks like your horse is due if not overdue, but it could be the funky angle). In any event, since we can't see the depth and you don't want to make it worse, your farrier should be called.

He'll probably just epoxy everything back then (if you show) or if it's superficial, just leave it.
