Is it "ok" to only look at horses to buy of a specific color?

well, I guess I've decided that I want to buy a horse and am start looking, lol, but I want to get "my dream horse" and figure I'm willing to spend years looking for him/her if need be I want a 16 (ish) hh black mare or gelding, not brown or really dark nearly black, but a jet black horse that is versitile (western/english training, ability to jump, etc)

is it wrong to be only interested in a horse because of a color? (ie, I see a horse that's bay rather than black that fits everything else but pass it over just because its not the "right" color.) opinions are welcome!

uh... it not weong, its up to u. If u see a horse thats the right colour, size ect but its a bad match for u, then u buy it, thats wrong! just be prepared to wait a while for the "perfect" horse...

Speaking for myself, I see nothing wrong with looking for a specific color (or specific anything) if that is what you want.
Just because a person perfers a horse of a certain color does not mean that they will not also look for the other necessary good qualities that are required.
If you willing to take how ever long it takes (and you said you were. ) to find your dream horse in the color you desire then I say go for it!

I guess so.. you might have to wait awhile to find that horse, though.

Whats the difference at looking a specific breed or discapline?! I'd say go for it.

I'm personally not paying attention to much with my horse search with color and breed, but I see no problem with doing it. Hey, you want your dream horse so go and find your dream horse!!!

No you shouldn't go by colors....but the books say that the greys are the most amiable and I have to agree

If you are willing to spend years looking for this dream horse, than why not? It is what you want, doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. But maybe you'll fall in love with another colour!

IMO, color is the LEAST important factor in buying a horse. So are you saying you'd buy a beautiful grey, even if it bucked and reared under saddle? Bit? Kicked?

LOL, sorry, probably not! But as long as you keep other factors in mind, too, you should be fine. Just don't get blinded by a pretty face...
