Well since Friday I've only gone down to feed her and not really touched anything I've looked at her udder and watched her behind as she walked but that's been it. I have hugged on her and pet her and loved her and asked her to have this baby but I'm trying to leave the having the baby parts alone for a couple of days. I know why she is not having this baby. It's b/c I'm ready for her to have it. I have my foaling kit down by the barn I have colostrum on hand, I have phone numbers for the vet, the girl who would have to cover my shift if she has it on a day I work, a local farmer who breed Jacks and Jennies, the feed store guy if I need foal lac powder and he is closed. etc. etc. I'm ready for her to have it.

It was talking about using (insert drug name that I've forgotten) to induce labor in full term mares. It was about the risks associated with it and that in the study some stress indicator hormone (or something) was not higher in the foals than in the non-induced foals. Complications were more likely though that required a vet to be there. But there were no deaths (mare or foal).

It's Oxytosin (sp?) they use it on people. Basically the article said only use on full-term mares and have a vet present yada yada yada. But the stress levels were no different then the mares who foaled on their own.
