today is my day. Oh well, as long as all goes well is what matters. I think that baby's going to be big enough to saddle and ride as soon as it's born! I'd be absolutely out of my mind by now if she were mine. Can't wait to hear what the Vet says on Wednesday, if nothing has happened by then.

thats not very good, mares don't like to foal in the cold...can't wait to here what the vet says!

Don't like it?! LOL Every mare I have ever had to foal has ALWAYS foaled on the COLDEST night. Annie foaled Belle in -4 degrees. Kara foaled Dixie it was like 12.

WOW!! I have never heard of that! Thats crazy! I thought mares wanted to foal when it was warm so the wet baby dosen't freeze! I guess you learn something new everyday (especially on this board! haha)

well, if we let 'NATURE' take its course, most mares will not conceive until after March to begin with.

When it is warmer.

but we took their "breeding" date out and slammed them right smack in January for birthing. So to get us back, they choose the nastiest, coldest, ickiest day to foal out. And usually when you arent' home either.
