Ok now I'm really worried about prego mare*****Update #178****Thread #4

Thought I would start a new thread as the old one was getting really long. So hopefully this will be the last thread.
Just in case any one was wondering. I went and estimated some dates and thought I would share. If you go by the date we brought her home as her bred date this is where we stand as far as dates.

March 6th, 2006 we brought her home. So
Feb 6th, 2007 338 days in gestation
Feb 11th, 2007 343 days in Gestation
Feb 28th, 360 days in Gestation
March 6th, 365 days in Gestation
March 21st 380 days in Gestation.
She better not go this long or I will surely have a massive hissy fit.

I have read that is is possible for a mare on fescue to carry 13 months. Maybe you won't see a foal until April.

ok I found this article and was curious about the last item?

Gather Your Materials
You probably have many of the items needed for the delivery on hand already, but it's wise to take inventory in advance so you'll have time to purchase additional supplies. Store the items in a large, sealable, plastic storage container, which will itself come in handy later.
  • clean stainless steel or new plastic bucket (got it)
  • clean tail bandage for the mare (got it)
  • thermometer (need to get)
  • petroleum jelly or other lubricant (got it)
  • halter and lead rope (need to get)
  • clean bandage scissors (got it)
  • a watch (got it)
  • flashlight (got it)
  • sterile plastic gloves (got it)
  • several clean, large towels (got it)
  • povidone iodine solution for disinfecting the foal's navel (got it)
  • Fleet enema for the foal (got it)
  • an extra-large sweater that can be placed on the foal to keep it warm, if necessary (front legs through the arms, head through the neck hole) Sorry honey need to use the sweater you got for Christmas for the new foal

I'm guessing it also keeps the tush out there in case the foal gets scours or you need to do an enema. Easier than working around a blanket I would think; just push the sweater up toward the shoulders and out of the way. And also, probably less likely to get "icky" if the foal passes some nasty poo.
