But you do not own him now?

So how did that happen?

In short, I consider the entire team around Capone to be the key to his success. I've been the coordinator and a key member of that team since Day One, but others have played important roles - sometimes only for a few months, sometimes for years. His competition rider, Kyle King, has been "in the saddle" in the International ring with Capone since late 2003 - I have not competed, myself, at that level though I do have limited experience at the Grand Prix level. I competed in the hunter ring as a youngster, myself, and was Small Pony Hunter Champion of Western Pennsylvania two years in a row, way back in the 1980s, on my grey, half-arabian pony "Atom Ant."

I rode Capone on his first trail ride, in his first schooling show, in his first Modified division championships, in his first Amateur Low championships, in his first Mini-Prix wins, in his first Grand Prix, and on his first fox hunts.

That's pretty much the long and short of it - I've hardly been solely responsible for every piece of his training, but we've come up together from the first time he had a saddle on through today as a team.

ds
Well, that is something to be proud of

Do you still continue to train other horses?

You are obviously a very talented and intelligent person and could be such an asset to this forum, I hope that once this all blows over, (and penny gets bred by capone) you will continue to post on this forum

Just my 2cents, and probably a little off topic

You make a good point, and it is fair to say that a free-for-all here, while removing the temptation for people to claim nonexistent "proof" because they'd be forced to post it publicly, would likely also result in the sort of mob-rule, rumor frenzy that, for example, the COTH seems to have cultivated with some pride in regards to me.

Still, I want to point out the obviously worrisome nature of any claim that "proof" exists for any of the allegations made in this thread by someone who says "I have proof, but I can't post it - trust me it's solid." That's a recipe for temptation, in terms of citing either weak/insubstantial "proof" which cannot even be challenged by me or anyone with an objective viewpoint - or just claiming "proof" that doesn't exist.

In fact, I've PM'd one poster claiming more or less exactly that, several hours ago, with no response thus far. Surely, if someone has "proof" that is not suitable for public posting here - they can PM it to me so I can review it, directly?

My father, who passed on in 2006, used to have a corny story that almost qualifies as an aphorism, which might be appropriate. He'd pull out a plain, old metal athletic whistle - the kind coaches used to use, in school gym class. He'd say "do you like my elephant-repelling whistle? It's very valuable, and 100% effective." The target of his story would ask "um, how do you know it's an 'elephant repelling' whistle, and not just a normal one?"

My father would then respond, with the merest hint of a smirk: ". . . see any elephants?"

Disproving the negative is, indeed, devilously hard.

Q.E.D.

ds

So, we now know who stole him and where he is - but recovering him isn't as simple as going over to get him because he's been taken across an international border in the meantime.

Incidentally, doing so in the commission of a felony makes this case, by definition, subject to US Federal prosecution. We've been warned already that the crime involved, though serious, is unlikely to rise to the level where the perpetrator can be extradited to the USA to face trial here. However, that doesn't mean a felony warrant won't be issued and outstanding until the defendant surrenders to US custody or, if not caught in the US, the warrant will remain in effect in perpetuity.

The link does work and will answer your "questions"/attacks. Corrine Super has admitted to orchestrating the theft. It hasn't been said that there is "NO WAY" of getting the horse back, just that it isn't as simple as some would make it out to be. Which is quite right.
