OB's and Riding

Had my first "NURSE" Visit today for my pregnancy.

She was advising me to STOP JOGGING since I started not long ago anyways, and until I get past the first trimester. (really lost me on that one....cause I've never been told to stop things)

I asked her about riding. Her eyes got about as big as a BOWL and said...ummm....hold on, let me ask.

Doc peeks his head in......"So, you want to ride?" "Yep...well, really didn't need to ask". "Well, glad I at least know you will be riding....you practice up at RCSP arena wednesdays?" "Yep...sure do" "was your horse the one bucking around the barrels a few weeks ago?" I'm like SHOCKED at this point.... "Umm..yeah"

"Well, don't fall off and we won't have an issue. **Big grin** And I highly advise you get him to quit bucking before you get further along"

"Already in process"

Chris was really shocked, so was I that he said that! LMAO Well, Come to find out, him and his daughter were there a few weeks ago. I didn't see them. But I sat the buck like it was nothing (took me a minute to realize he WAS bucking...LMAO)

SOOOO, I at least have my OB at my barrel practices now. LMAO. talk about road side service if something happense there!!! LMAO

Anyways, had to share that little thing with ya'll. He is an avid Equestrian, so is his family. Which helps my fight with the docs about riding and being pregnant.

I am VERY VERY happy he is supportive of pregnant riders! I knew he was, but until you are pregnant facing your doc, you really don't know.

I know of one person who would not ride while pregnant but she also had TOO many miscarages that I think is resonable and I think she had a lil girl a few months ago... other than that he11 I ride my mare when she's pregnant so I should be able to ride if I where pregnant and same with any one else

hahaha. I would not stop running OR riding when I got pregnant. I think you should be able to carry on doing exactly what you have always done, just be careful and aware and listen to your body. I know woman who continued running throughout pregnancy, they gained lower weight and lost it faster, and kept in shape!

My aunt rode right up till she delivered!

One reason that will put me off getting pregnant is because I won't ride when I'm pregnant...well, more like my husband and family would hide my horses and all bridles and saddles if they caught me riding pregnant...it sucks.

Glad to hear you have the support so you can keep on riding!

I'm glad you are still able to ride. It's going to be after the baby is born that you'll probably have the most problems trying to find time to ride.

The reason they say that before the first trimester is that is when the most miss-carriages happen... after that it is less of a chance... That is prob why!

WAY funny, doc caught you in action huh!
