Nutrition Overhaul

ok so. I want Before and Afters of horses you haven't "rescued" nesecarily but just given them a better life and better nutrition. My horse Anna came from a rough home not abuse or neglet by ANY means , but they didn't care if she was shiny if you wanna put it that way. Well its been two years and she's great.

She went barefoot
switched off sweet feed to safe choice
now on a similar feed for pastured horses
she gets more love and care now haha.

I get constant compliments on her beauty now

So share your "before" and After pictures that you have
Maybe that horse you bought just needed some extra love and now they are stunning I'd love to see any you have

Heres Anna two years ago.

And here's Anna now

Wow if only I had pictures of my TB when i first got him he looked half dead, he was Extreamly skinny, his feet were long, and he was emotionally a reck. Hes off the track and is doing just amazing now I'll get some pictures of him to put on here later ^_^
You can tell the mare was wormy before you got her by the color of her mane and how dull her fur was she looks really nice now

We use Safe & Sound which is the same formulation as Safe Choice. We also love it. My DVM loves it too and thinks my horse looks fantastic compared to way back when we first adopted her as a rescue.

IRISH- yeah i'd love to see the pictures of your TB if ya find em'!
Really? I did not even know it could be worms. I had only ridden 6 months before I got her and we were a city family haha so we learned step by step but we did start her on a good worming program right away.

Denray- WOW! She looks just stunning. Its kinda cool how both our horses "before" pictures they have the same look haha. Like "life could be better." haha Thanks for sharing

Okay so I don't have pictures of when I first got Romeo on the computer. But I do have a few of him after being out to pasture for 2.5 years. He was basically just getting grass hay and some senior in the winter or when he lost weight(usually related to weather changes). The lady I had with took great care of him but it was funny seeing my former big time show horse looking like a backyard pony. But anyways here is Romeo a month before I brought him back:

And here is a pic from the day after he got to the new barn b/c since the last time I had seen him a month before he had drop a decent amount of weight. He'd already been cleaned up and gotten trimmed and mane pulled by this point.

And here he is now. He is getting Triple Crown 30% (a ration balancer), rice bran, beet pulp, flaxseed and a ton of hay. Looking good for a horse who is just coming off a 2 month layup

Great pictures!! I normally only lurk here, occasionally, just breaks my heart to see/hear about all the abuse

But the subject line of this one caught my eye, so I had to come see what it as about

Miss Catnip, aka Funny Cat, shortly after she arrived at my farm as an undernourished, fresh off the track 3yo TB. What you can't really tell here is that her Winter coat was baby-soft and fine, and did a great job of hiding her ribs

and last May

She was so s.crewed up, metabolically, from whatever she had done to her at the track, that it took a couple of years of modifying her diet several times. But, it turned out ok
