when should to start feeding black as knight?..
should you start at the beginning of the winter and keep your horse on it all through summer to?

And can you keep your horse on black as knight when you show to?

You should start feeding it around the time they start shedding their winter coat (if you don't care about their winter coat bleaching out) and keep feeding it throughout the entire summer. Some horses need a higher dose to stay black, some less.

It depends on the organization you show with. Some people will stop feeding it 2 weeks prior to be on the safe side. I think some of them will also use a fly sheet/sunscreen/night turnout to help prevent fading during those 2 weeks, or even throughout the summer.

im gonna have a couple shows this winter.

would it hurt to feed it through the winter?.. just to keep the coat nice and dark?

And what if i started him on it now... would that help to produce a nice dark coat when he grows the winter hair?

The supplements help to prevent fading on a horse's coat (winter or summer), but it will not reverse fading that has already happened.

If you fed it through the winter, yes, your horse would likely stay nice and black. However, if you plan on clipping him, he'll still have that 'clipped horse' look.

This is the time of year for fading to kick into high gear.

Also, comparing a clipped horse and one with a 'new' summer coat isn't really a fair comparison.
Well you are welcome to your own opinions on the products. I really do believe that for some horses this product is extremely effective. I have heard from others that have not seen much of a difference. The other people who started their horses on the black as knight at my barn have had incredible results as well, including one black horse that ALWAYS has had an orange tint to its coat. The horse is out during the day and does not wear a fly sheet and does not have any orange tint to him at all.

My horse is 13 btw and his coat has NEVER been that dark and rich.

To each their own. Next time I will spend the money on black as night rather then the nu image dark horse product.

There's my two cents.
