| Senior Member+ | Now that we know...pasture or stall foaling So know that we know that we are having a foal we have a dilemma... Do we let her foal in the 300 by 150 pasture or do we put her in a stall that's 12x12? Why I've had a few vets that say leave her in the pasture to foal. I've had some breeders say stall her for foaling. What's your thoughts?

However, if it comes down to having coyote in the area, and a 12x12 stall, go for the stall. Whichever you do, make sure the mare is acclimated to that environment for several weeks before hand so she builds immunity to the bacteria there and passes that on to the foal

| Senior Member+ | She has been in both the stall and turn out pasture for the last three years so she's well acclimated. I do have another stall option but it's not foal ready and would take a lot of renovating. it's 11X24. I would prefer the paddock but I too worry about coyote getting in the mix. any ideas on how to get rid of the yoties

| Senior Member+ | 300 ft x 150 ft? I would go with that then, it's actually about the size of my paddocks....make sure the fence is foal friendly though...Cathy

| Senior Member | I always prefer pasture foaling, if there is any way you can swing it. It's healthier for both mare & foal, more comfortable, and no clean up! If there is a serious threat of coyotes, then you might feel better going with the stall, and 24' does make it long enough to be ok. |
