Now I'm scared to introduce the new horse today

After the last thread about the stallion attack, I went out to see Beauty ( she's doing good, little stiff but good)
then I came back home to spend some time with my 2 I already have.

Beauty is supposed to come here today, but I'm terrified that yesterday happens all over again

I have a mare and a 4 month old filly, already, now Beauty has had the worst day ever yesterday and I dont know how she will react with other horses

The barn she is at there is a weanling beside her and a mini on the other side, shes fine with it, but I'm scared my mare FREAKS out and yesterday happens all over again.

What should I do?

Maybe just walk her along the fence line if possible and introduce them over the fence, then get someone to walk their horse with yours to help develop new friendships in a safe area before turning out, and then just come early one day and turn out with a few of the safer horses?
Generally the new scent and excitement of an incoming horse cause crazy behaviors, but if she gets turned out with safe horses even for a short while, they will hopefully bond, and she will leave her scent in the pasture so horses will adapt faster and be less aggressive.

The best advice I can give you is if you are truly calm, and not worried she will be more comfortable. Spend a little time with her nefore you bring her home let her know that you can be trusted. Bring her a small treat, scratch her favorite spot, talk softly to her , but don't act all skittish. Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe horses hold on to trauma's as long as people do. I doubt she was up all night bitting her hooves and on the phone talking to all of the other mares she knows that have had stallions after them. If anything just be reassuring that you are a good thing in her life. I read your previous post, and I can honestly say that what you went through was horrible. What she went through was more of an annoyance, and she held her own pretty well from what you said, right. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Well, its done, they are in adjoining pens right now and NO issues at all. The filly is more than happy to go and say by the fence but Fay not so much. Shes not being aggressive, shes just taking her time.
Beauty is just so happy to have horses beside her I think ( she was solo for the past 3 months)

Good job. I always get nervous the first time new horses get turned out with mine!

OMG! Thank you so much for that! I really needed a good laugh about the situation, and that was it!
